Metzger-Seymour, Reedy Rack Up SEC Honors

Jan. 6, 2015

Freshman Erin Metzger-Seymour was tabbed SEC Female Freshman of the Week by the conference on Tuesday (Jan. 6). The honor comes on the heels of the first event win of her career when she clocked a 1:51.90 to win the 200 free on Friday, Jan. 2. Metzger-Seymour beat 18 other swimmers in a meet featuring four other schools, including No. 14 Arizona.

The freshman tied teammate Danielle Barbiea in second place in the 100 fly (55.74) and added a third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:03.77) to score vital points and help the No. 16 women's squad collect three dual wins.

Junior Lauren Reedy earned her third SEC Female Diver of the Week honor of the season and fourth of her career. Reedy continues to dominate quality competition. At the Tennessee Diving Invite over the weekend, she won both the 1-meter (320.40) and 3-meter (342.60) competitions, outscoring 43 other individual divers in each event.

Reedy has won nine event titles this season, setting new career bests in all three diving events. The Rochester Hills, Mich., native broke her own school record on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 352.43 on Oct. 31.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back in action Jan. 17 at South Carolina. Events begin at 12 p.m. CT.
