Tigers Among Top Three at Chip-N Club Invitational

Mizzou Women's Golf is among the leaders at the 2014 Chip-N Club Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska. The Tigers shot just 26-over par as a team, sitting in third overall after two rounds of play. Redshirt junior Michelle Butler led Mizzou on the day as she is currently in third individually, finishing the day just 3-over par. Butler tallied seven birdies overall, helping Mizzou to a four stroke lead over fourth place teams North Dakota State and Nebraska. Ohio State leads the tournament after a 19-over par finish on the day, while Wichita State sits just two strokes ahead of Mizzou in second.
Senior Alina Rogers joins Butler among the top-15 as she is currently in 12th place. Rogers shot 7-over par after two rounds, just one stroke ahead of sophomore Jess Meek who sits 15th in the tournament. After a 6-over par score in the first round of play, Meek tallied six birdies in the second round to finish the day just 2-over par.
Freshman Clara Young made her first appearance for Mizzou at the tournament as well. The North Berwick, Scotland, native is tied at 15th overall with Meek as she also shot 8-over par on the day.
Senior Laura Kraft is in 36th place individually as she recorded a score 14-over par through the first two rounds.
Juniors Katherine Hepler and Haelena Schwemmer join the Tigers at the invitational this week as well, competing as individuals. Hepler had a strong performance as she shot 7-over par on the day to sit in 12th overall alongside teammate Rogers. Schwemmer sits 13-over par after two rounds of play.
Held at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course, a 6,252-yard, Par 72 course, the Tigers look to come out on top of a field of ten teams total. In addition to the Cornhuskers, Mizzou is competing against Bellevue University, Creighton, Missouri State, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, Ohio State, South Dakota State and Wichita State. The third and final round begins Tuesday, Sept. 9 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
