
Mizzou Fights Through Inclement Weather at Cougar Classic

Hanahan, S.C. - Mizzou Women's Golf is fighting through more rainy weather at the Cougar Classic this week as rain delayed the first round on Sunday has also pushed up the third round. Teams will begin the third round at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow. Hosted by the College of Charleston at Yeamans Hall Club, the Tigers are competing on the Par 72, 6,204-yard course.
Mizzou currently sits in a tie for 20th overall with a score 32-over par. The Tigers shot 305-303--608 over the first two days, and are just 10 shots back from a top-15 finish. Arkansas (-9), Wake Forest (-7) and UCLA (-7) make up the top three teams in the tournament so far.
Missouri is led by sophomore Jess Meek who finished the day just 1-over par, an improvement from her 4-over par finish in the first round of play. Meek tallied four birdies in the second round on Monday. Senior Laura Kraft finished the second round just a few strokes behind Meeks as she is currently 8-over par through two rounds.
Senior Alina Rogers is just one stroke back from Kraft as she is 9-over par so far in the tournament. Freshman Clara Young shot 6-over par in the second round to sit 11-over par through two rounds while redshirt junior Michelle Butler is currently 13-over par after two rounds of play.
The Tigers are currently competing among a field of 23 teams including Arkansas, Baylor, UCF, Charleston Southern, Clemson, College of Charleston, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, NC State, UNCG, Penn State, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
