Baseball vs. Georgia Game Three Notes
Eric Anderson singled and reached base safely in the first inning for the 14th time in 21 games, with 13 of those coming in the leadoff spot. The savvy veteran came around to score in the first and scored again in the second, crossing the plate for a team-leading 22nd time.
Anderson dominated on the mound, retiring Georgia's first 10 batters en route to a complete game victory. He posted a career-high 12 strikeouts. The last time a Mizzou pitcher fanned 10 or more was Rob Zastryzny vs. Auburn on April 26, 2013.
Anderson tossed first pitch strikes to 31 of 34 batters.
The senior hurler threw 85 of his 118 total pitches for strikes, holding the Bulldogs to two runs in nine innings on the mound. The complete game marks the longest outing of his career. The last time a Tiger finished a complete game was Zastryzny at Georgia on April 5, 2013.
Anderson earned his first win since May 25, 2011 when he worked through seven solid innings in a victory over the Texas Longhorns.
Catcher Dylan Kelly fought through an eight-pitch at bat in the bottom of the first and smoked an RBI single to left field. Kelly reached base for the eighth consecutive game. He batted .455 (5-for-11) in the three-game series against Georgia.
Anderson and Josh Lester pulled off a double steal to put runners in scoring position in the second inning. The Tigers now have 26 stolen bases in 2014 after swiping just 20 bases all of last season.
Senior Kendall Keeton lifted an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning. With 14 RBI in 2014, Keeton has already surpassed last season's RBI total (13).
Junior outfielder Jake Ivory recorded his 16 hit of the season in his 18th start with a single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth.
