
Meek Leads Tigers at Jim West Challenge

Columbia, Mo. - Led by sophomore Jess Meek, Mizzou Women's Golf closed the first round of play at the Jim West Challenge in second place with a 13-over par team total. The Tigers sit just four strokes behind tournament leader Texas A&M who finished the day 9-over par. Meek shot 1-over par in the first round of play to tie for fourth overall after one round. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Texas State, is taking place at the 6,234-yard, Par 72 course at Tapatio Springs Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
Junior Kat Hepler joins Meek among the top 20 competitors as she shot 4-over par through the first round to tie for 18th overall. Senior Alina Rogers is just one shot behind Hepler as she finished the day 5-over par to sit in a tie for 26th. Senior Laura Kraft shot 9-over par on the day to tie for 50th in the tournament. Competing as an individual, Haelena Schwemmer is tied for 61st overall with a score 12-over par.
In an attempt to avoid weather delays, the tournament will continue with the second and third rounds tomorrow, Nov. 3. Teams will play 36-holes, beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Joining the Tigers in the tournament is Texas State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kent State, Houston, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Iowa, Texas Tech and East Carolina.
