Carly Kan Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Carly Kan was honored for her academic success on Thursday.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -Mizzou volleyball sophomore All-American Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District team, as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday (Nov. 6). Kan, who is currently the only player in the SEC averaging more than 3.00 kills per set and 3.00 digs per set, was named to the District 6 Second Team after compiling a 3.88 grade-point-average while majoring in accounting. This is Kan's first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Kan has been the Tigers' go-to swing all season in 2014 and she leads the nation in combined kills and digs and has an SEC-best 16 double-doubles. Her 16 double-doubles are the most by a Tiger outside hitter in the 25-point set era and are the most by a Tiger since 2013 SEC Player of the Year Molly Kreklow had 19 in 2012. The CoSIDA Academic All-District award is another in a long list of accolades for the Tiger sophomore. She was the 2013 SEC Freshman of the Year, 2013 AVCA Southeast Region Freshman of the Year, an All-SEC pick last season and a preseason All-SEC honoree this season.

Kan and the Tigers head to Knoxville, Tenn., today as they prepare of a Friday match against the Lady Vols at 6 p.m. (CT) at Thompson-Boling Arena. The match will air live on SEC Network-Plus.
