
Meek Earns Top-10 Finish at Mercedes Benz

Knoxville, Tenn. - Sophomore Jess Meek used a third round 2-over par performance to move into the top 10 at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. on Sunday. The Carnoustie, Scotland, native finished the tournament 8-over par (76-72-73--221) in total, recording three birdies in the third round of play to move into the top-10 individuals.
The Tigers took sixth overall as a team, scoring 297-290-310--897 (+45) through three rounds. No. 2-ranked South Carolina took the tournament title after a 2-under par score in the third round. Kent State (+27) and Tennessee (+27) round out the top three finishers in the tournament.
Senior Alina Rogers finished among the top-20 overall as she tied for 17th overall with a final tally 10-over par. Junior Katherine Hepler finished just one stroke behind rogers, tying for 22nd in the tournament. Hepler scored 3-over par in the third round for her best showing of the weekend.
Freshman Clara Young and Senior Laura Kraft shot 11-over par in the third round giving Young a 54th place finish and putting Kraft in a tie for 60th.
Hosted by Tennessee, The Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships were played at Cherokee Country Club, which boasts a Par 71, 5,870-yard course.
The Tigers were up against a strong field of teams including Chattanooga, College of Charleston, Denver, Eastern Kentucky, ETSU, Furman, Kent State, Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF and Wisconsin.
