Kreklow is STL Post-Dispatch's Top Mizzou Female Athlete

June 5, 2014

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Mizzou setter Molly Kreklow (Delano, Minn.) was named Mizzou's Top Female Athlete of 2013-14 by the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Dave Matter on June 2. Kreklow earned the honor from the Post-Dispatch after guiding Mizzou volleyball to a 35-1 overall record and the school's first-ever SEC Championship last fall.

Kreklow's setting helped Mizzou put together the first-ever unbeaten regular season in SEC history at 34-0 and she helped the 2013 team reset program records for wins, conference wins, consecutive wins, sweeps and wins to open a season. She also guided the most prolific offense in the nation as the Tigers led the nation in hitting efficiency, kills and assists. Kreklow led the nation in assists per set.

Aside from Kreklow's nod as the Top Female Athlete, classmate Lisa Henning (Blue Springs, Mo.) was one of the student-athletes also considered for the award. Freshman Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) was also named the No. 5 newcomer in any sport at Mizzou last season. Volleyball's incredible season was also labeled as one of the top stories for Mizzou Athletics in Matter's column as well.
