Roe, Schneider Make All-SEC Freshman Team

March 7, 2014

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Freshmen Tyler Schneider and Dan Roe made their second appearance on the All-SEC Freshman Team list, released by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) office on Friday, after finishing top in their class in the 3000-meter and 5000-meter runs, respectively.  This brings the total number of All-SEC Freshman Team honorees up to 12, as a Mizzou Tiger has made the list every season since they entered the conference in the fall of 2012.

Schneider, who redshirted the indoor and outdoor track seasons last year, first made the All-SEC Freshman Team during the 2012 cross country season after finishing 38th overall at the Championships.  He was 10th overall in the 3000-meter run in College Station, running just off his PR in 8:15.59.

Roe also made his first appearance on the All-SEC roster during the cross country season, placing 50th at the 2013 Championships.  Roe led the first heat of the 5000-meter run in 14:32.37, good for 12th overall on the final day of SEC competition last week.

Both own spots on the Missouri All-Time Top Ten list for the 3000-meter run, with Schneider coming in at No. 8 (8:13.73) and Roe at No. 10 (8:15.14) after their performances at the Rod McCravy Memorial in February.

Other Tiger names on the All-SEC Freshman Team list include: Joe McKenna (2012 Cross Country), Evan Chiplock (2012 Cross Country), Markesh Woodson (2013 Indoor/Outdoor Track), Jonathan Ilori (2013 Indoor Track), Kaitlyn Fischer (2013 Cross Country), TJ Carey (2013 Cross Country), and Drew White (2013 Cross Country).
