
Mizzou Golf Wins Columbia Regional Preview Event

Mizzou Golf won its second event of the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, earning a five-shot win over Iowa State in the 2013 Columbia Regional Preview at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Tigers (-12) withstood a final-round push from Iowa State (-7) and some rain, to finish the two-day tournament 12-under-par and five strokes ahead of the Cyclones. Austin Peay (+6) finished third. Senior Emilio Cuartero and freshman Euan Walker each finished among the top two individually.
Cuartero carried his excellent play from Monday into Tuesday's final round. The Spaniard (68-67-70--205) never lost his lead in the individual competition and earned a five-shot win over Walker (-6) and South Alabama's Michael Garretson (-6). It was Cuartero's fourth career individual win at Mizzou.
Walker (73-66-71--210) also contributed to the win. The native of Scotland finished the tournament 6-under-par and played his final 36 holes 7-under-par after an opening round 73.
Ryan Zech (+1) also improved his leaderboard position in Tuesday's finale. The junior (75-72-70--217) shot 2-under-par today, his best round of the tournament, and placed 14th.
Hunter Kraus (74-67-81--222) finished the competition 6-over-par, tied for 22nd. His low round from the tournament and career-best at Mizzou was a 67 in round two.
Wilson Sundvold, the final starter for the Tigers, finished the event 53rd.
Individual competitor Jordan Williams (+7) finished tied for 28th , while true freshman Tripp H'Doubler (+11) was 42nd. Rounding out Tiger individual scoring was transfer Mike Wooten (+13), freshman Will Echelmeier (+19) and senior Dakyn Dollens (+24).
