Former Tiger Malnati Wins Web.com Event

Columbia, Mo. - Former Mizzou golfer Peter Malnati (-16) fired a 6-under-par 65 in the final round of the Knoxville News Sentinel Open to earn a one-shot win over James White and claim his first Web.com Tour victory on Sunday.
Played at Fox Den Country Club just one hour from his hometown of Dandridge, Tenn., Malnati was magnificent over his final 54 holes shooting 15-under par and finished his final round on Sunday with five birdies over his final seven holes to claim the win.
The victory pushed Malnati, a 2009 graduate of Mizzou, to No. 16 on the Web.com Tour's money list, helping him move closer to securing PGA Tour playing privileges next season. The Top 25 players from the Web.com Tour regular season earn PGA Tour cards and Malnati's win, coupled with his consistent play have him firmly positioned in that Top 25.
