
Mizzou Golf Remains Ninth At The SEC Championships

Missouri Golf remains in ninth place after the second round of play at the 2013 Southeastern Conference Men's Golf Championship on St. Simons Island, Ga.
Played on the Par 70, 6,991-yard Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club, the No. 32 Tigers improved by two shots on their first-round total and continue to hold an advantage over four nationally-ranked programs heading into Sunday's final round.
Junior Emilio Cuartero turned in the top round for Missouri on Saturday, shooting an even-par 70 to move into the Top 20 individually. Cuartero was 3-over-par through his front nine, but shot 32 on the back nine to finish 19th heading into tomorrow's finale.
Hunter Kraus is two shots back of Cuartero after shooting a second round 74. Tied for 25th, Kraus continued his steady play on Saturday, following up his first round 71.
Jace Long was another Tiger to improve in his second tour of the Seaside Course. The Dixon, Mo., native shot 73 following Friday's 74 and is 36th overall. Long steadily improved throughout the second round. He opened the day 3-over through six holes, but was even par the remainder of the round.
Jacob Fair and Ryan Zech are both one shot behind Long, tied for 39th. Zech was 3-over-par (73) in his second round while Fair recorded his second consecutive 4-over-par 74.
No. 30 South Carolina (-5) owns a three-shot lead over No. 2 Alabama (-2). The Crimson Tide owned the low round of the afternoon and will be paired with the Gamecocks and No. 19 Auburn (+4) on Sunday.
South Carolina's Caleb Sturgeon (-8) owns a four-shot lead over three players. Sturgeon has 10 birdies and just two bogeys through 36 holes of play.
The final round of the 2013 SEC Championships continues tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. CT.
