
Thomas Earns Runner-Up Finish at Winter National Championships

AUSTIN, Texas - Mizzou sophomore diver Clark Thomas (Olathe, Kan.) earned a second-place finish on the men's 1-meter springboard to highlight Missouri's day one competition at the 2013 USA Diving Winter National Championships Tuesday in Austin, Texas.
Thomas notched a two-round score of 695.85 on the event to earn runner-up honors. The sophomore scored 377.45 points in morning prelims to enter finals in second. Thomas then posted 318.4 in finals to put his day total to 695.85.
Senior David Bonuchi (Columbia, Mo.) also competed on the 1-meter and earned a seventh-place finish on the event. He totaled 652.6 points on the day, with a 336.1 in prelims and a 316.5 in finals.
On the women's 1-meter, redshirt junior Loren Figueroa (Houston, Texas) placed sixth with a two-round tally of 520.95, which was less than 16 points out of first-place. Figueroa scored 257.4 in afternoon prelims and 263.55 in finals to earn sixth.
The USA Diving Winter National Championships continue on Wednesday with Thomas and Bonuchi competing on the men's 3-meter. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with semifinals at 5:30 p.m. The men's 3-meter finals will take place on Saturday.
