Columbia, Mo.--Mizzou Men's Golf wrapped up play at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic Tuesday, Nov. 5, to finish in fourth place. This is the first Top 5 finish for the Tigers (+24) since their victory at the Columbia Regional Preview, Sept. 16-17.
South Carolina (E) held onto its lead from the first two rounds to take home the tournament title while Marquette (+22) and Winthrop (+23) rounded out the top three team finishers. The final round of play was a tough one for all competitors, as no team shot below par on the last 18 holes.
Emilio Cuartero closed the tournament just 1-over par overall and was the only Tiger to earn a top-10 finish in this tournament. Despite running into some trouble in the last few holes, the senior finished tied for sixth at the tournament's conclusion.
Freshman Euan Walker (+8) and junior Ryan Zech (+8) finished in a tie for 26th with three other competitors. Zech, a native of Kearney, Mo., shot his best score of the tournament, a 70, in Tuesday's final round.
Senior Hunter Kraus (+12) ended the tournament tied for 44th, while redshirt sophomore Wilson Sundvold (+15) finished tied for 59th.
The Wendy's Kiawah Classic was the final fall tournament for the Tigers. The Tigers return to action Feb. 23-25, when they travel to Rio Grande, P.R., to compete in the Puerto Rico Classic.
