Mizzou Football improved to 5-0 for the fifth time in head coach Gary Pinkel's tenure at Mizzou with tonight's 51-28 victory at Vanderbilt. In his 13th-season leading the Tigers, Pinkel's squad reached 5-0 for the first time since the 2010 season. That campaign in 2010 brought Mizzou a Big 12 North Co-Championship and 10-3 final record.

The victory advanced Pinkel's record at Mizzou to 95-61, moving him closer to the Tigers' all-time winningest coach, Don Faurot, who won 101 games (1935-42, 42-56).

Additionally, the Tigers won their conference-opener for the sixth-time under Pinkel's direction. The win broke a series history tie with Vanderbilt and improved Mizzou to 3-2-1 against the Commodores.

Mizzou's 30 points at halftime against the Commodores were the most for the Tigers in the first half of a conference game since 2011 when Mizzou led 31-10 vs. Iowa State (Oct. 15) at the half.

The Tigers' 51 total points were the most in a conference game since that 2011 game vs. Iowa State, in which the Tigers put up 52 points in the 52-17 win.

An interception by sophomore LB Kentrell Brothers (Guthrie, Okla) at 7:59 in the first quarter extended Mizzou's nation-leading turnover run to 35-straight games. The last time Mizzou did not record a takeaway was Oct. 30, 2010 at Nebraska (a 31-17 loss). The INT was Brothers' second of the season and career, which he snagged at VU's 26-yard line and returned 11 yards.

Brothers' pick brought Mizzou's season INT total to 11. The Tigers entered the game ranking first in the nation in interceptions per game, averaging 2.5. Mizzou's 11 pickoffs this season are only topped nationally by Virginia Tech's 13.

Senior QB James Franklin (Corinth, Texas) had a stout performance, recording his seventh career 3+ passing touchdown game and third of this season. Franklin finished the game completing 19-of-28 passes for 278 yards, four TD's, and no interceptions.

Senior WR L'Damian Washington (Shreveport, La.) scored Mizzou's first touchdown of the game on a 26-yard pass from Franklin at the 13:43 mark in the first quarter. The scoring grab was Washington's fourth of the season, surpassing his 2011 season total of three.

Senior WR Marcus Lucas (Liberty, Mo.) grabbed his first touchdown catch of 2013 on a 15-yard toss from Franklin at 1:15 in the third quarter. The scoring snag marked Lucas' ninth career touchdown reception.

Sophomore PK Andrew Baggett (Lee's Summit, Mo.) matched his career-best in field goal makes with his 3-for-3 performance (44 yards, 29 yards, 41 yards). Baggett made 3-of-3 attempts against the Commodores last season in the 19-15 loss (Oct. 6, 2012).
