COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Black Team evened the Mizzou Baseball Fall World Series at one win apiece after John Miles tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits on Wednesday night (Oct. 23) at Taylor Stadium. Miles struck out six and walked just one while throwing 82 pitches in the win. It was a good old fashioned pitching duel until the black team plated three runs over the sixth and seventh innings, chasing Gold starter Jace James, who went 6.2 innings, allowing nine hits and three earned runs with six strikeouts.
Breckin Williams and Eric Anderson each pitched perfect innings in relief of Miles as Black shut the door to even the series. Anderson was great at the plate for the Black Team as well, posting a 4-for-4 night with two RBI in the win. Josh Lester scored three runs and drove in another while Ryan Howard also drove in a pair of runs. The Gold Team was limited to just three hits in the loss.
Game three of the Fall World Series will be held Friday at Taylor Stadium. For all the latest on Mizzou baseball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MUTigerBaseball.
