Thomas Selected to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou softball senior pitcher Chelsea Thomas (Pleasantville, Iowa) has been selected to the Southeastern Conference's Community Service Team, the league announced Monday. The SEC sponsors Community Service teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.

Thomas helped in the planning of the Mizzou Moves pilot program, teaching elementary school students in the Columbia, Mo., area about exercise and healthy eating. She teaches at Mizzou's CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) clinics, showing softball and baseball skills to attendees and has spoken at the Tiger Village Retirement Home in her spare time. Thomas also organized the Mizzou softball team's annual "Christmas Adopt-A-Family" gifts.
