
Tigers in Third at Rebel Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA, Mo. Mizzou Women's Golf sits in third place after the first round at the Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate. Baylor and Mississippi lead the way, tied for first place with a score of 292, 4-over-par. The Tigers shot 298 on the day, which comes out to 10-over-par. Tulsa (+14) and Southern Mississippi (+15) sit in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Senior Marissa Cook leads the Tigers as she shot a 72 for even par on the day, and three Tigers currently hold spots in the top 20 at the tournament.
Cook's performance puts her in third place in the tournament, behind Mississippi's Natalie Gleadall (69) and Baylor's Jaclyn Jensen (70). After starting off with a bogey on her first hole, Cook came back with four birdies in the round to stay even with par.
"It was a very solid start for us today," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We got off to a very fast start and lost a few shots at the end of the round. It was nice to see more consistent play out there, and Marissa Cook had a great day. We need to build on what we started today and keep playing with confidence."
Freshman Alina Rogers is currently tied for eighth in the tournament as she closed the first round 2-over-par. Senior Hannah Lovelock is just one stroke behind Rogers as she recorded a birdie on the front nine to finish 3-over-par. Lovelock is tied for 19th in the tournament.
Recording a score of 77 on the day, Ariana Savich is currently tied for 39th place while sophomore Taylor Gohn closed the round 8-over-par. The score puts her in a tie for 65th place in the tournament.
The Tigers head out for round two tomorrow at 8 a.m. The third round will be played on Sunday, Apr. 8, beginning at 8 a.m. as well. Live scoring for the tournament is available at www.golfstat.com, and final results will be posted on MUTigers.com at the conclusion of each round.
