
Mizzou Opens Play at the Liz Murphey Classic

Athens, Ga. - The Mizzou Women's golf team sits in a tie for 15th place after the first round of play at the 40th Annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. Alabama leads the tournament with a first round score of 278, followed by Georgia (284) and South Carolina (285). The Tigers shot 305 on the day, led by Ariana Savich who finished 3-over par.
Savich sits in a tie for 41st in the tournament after starting the round shooting even par before recording a double bogey early on. Savich was able to come back with a birdie on the 18th hole, however. Both Hannah Lovelock and Alina Rogers finished 4-over-par to tie for 51st. Rogers recorded four birdies on the day to recover from two early double bogey.
Taylor Gohn sits in a tie for 62nd place as she finished the day scoring 6-over-par, while Marissa Cook is two strokes behind her in a tie for 81st place. The Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic is being played at the University of Georgia Golf Course, a 6,335 yard, par 72 course. The tournament will resume in waves at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by a shotgun start on Sunday.
