Sept. 24, 2011
- Junior Center Travis Ruth made the first start of the season for the Tigers, and the 2nd of his career (his other start was the 2010 Insight Bowl).
- For the 2nd straight week, Mizzou's defense opened the game with a three-and-out, and the Tiger offense marched down for a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead. After the Tiger defense held on a 3rd-and-1 to get the ball back and the offense went 76 yards on 7 plays to go up 7-0, courtesy of James Franklin's 1-yard TD run.
- The Tiger defense gave up a 30-yard run to OU's Whaley on the Sooner's 2nd possession, but senior SS Kenji Jackson came up with his 5th career interception (first of the season) at the Mizzou 19-yardline to snuff out the Sooner threat. Jackson is the active career interception leader for Mizzou. Next most on the career INT list among active Tigers Kip Edwards and Zaviar Gooden, with 2 each coming into tonight.
- After the Sooners drove for a field goal to make it 7-3, the Tigers drove right back to take a 14-3 lead with 6:00 left, as Franklin hit WR L'Damian Washington on a 45-yard catch-and-run TD. It was a career-long reception for Washington...
- Franklin completed his first 5 passes of the night for 124 yards before his first incompletion with 3:10 left in the quarter (his intentional grounding counts as a sack, not an incomplete pass).
- The 1st quarter ended with Mizzou holding a 14-10 lead. Franklin was 5-of-8 passing in the quarter for 124 yards and a TD, while Henry Josey had 56 yards rushing on 6 attempts (9.3 avg.).
- James Franklin had a 24-yard run in the 2nd quarter which was his longest of the season.
- In the 3rd quarter, sophomore CB E.J. Gaines picked off a Landry Jones pass at the Mizzou 36-yardline to kill OU's first drive of the quarter. Junior DE Brad Madison got big pressure on Jones on the play, and junior LB Zaviar Gooden deflected the ball into the air, allowing Gaines to corral it for his 2nd INT of the season/career.
- Josey scored from 48 yards out in the fourth quarter to cut the Sooner lead to 31-21 to cross the 100 yard mark for the second consecutive week...
- Franklin finished the game with 103 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground, both of which were career bests for a single-game.
