Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri freshman women's golf standout Kate Gallagher was named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team over the weekend.
Nominees for the award must compete in at least 60 percent of their team's events and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
A native of Savannah, Mo., Gallagher earned the award after competing in eight events in her rookie campaign. The talented left-hander finished 35th at the 2011 Big 12 Championships to help the Tigers to a third place team showing. The Business Administration major fired an even-par 72 in the final round to help Mizzou knock off five ranked opponents.
Gallagher's top performance of the year came at the Las Vegas Shootout, where she finished 23rd overall. She opened the tournament with a season-best 1-under-par 71 and followed with an even-par 72.
