
Missouri Kicks off Big 12 Championships Tonight

Austin, Tex.-- The Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams got off to a solid start in relay and 1 meter diving competition Wednesday night.
After a sendoff by Mizzou parents and fans, the Tigers traveled to the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, where competition began at 6:00 pm.
In the first heat of the women's 200 medley relay, the A team of Cassie Cunningham, Amanda Masters, Emy DiBenigno and Lisa Nathanson took fourth place in 1:39.97.
Participating in the second heat, the B team of Dominique Bouchard, Rachel Ripley, Lexi Spivak and Francie Szostak cruised to victory (placing seventh overall in the tournament) with a 1:40.31 finish. In the third heat, Missouri's C team placed second (and ninth overall) in 1:44.53.
In the men's 200 medley relay, the A team of Roko Simunic, Mark Conroy, Anders Melin and Jordan Hawley placed second, finishing in 1:26.58. Participating in the second heat, Missouri's B squad finished second (and fourth overall) in 1:43.27.
In the 1 meter dive, Dante Jones crushed his former top score of the season, finishing in second place with 404.10 points. David Bonuchi finished in third place with 368.10 points.
In the first heat of the women's 800 free relay, Missouri's Stephanie Rovig, Francie Szostak, Dominique Bouchard, and Lauren Lavigna claimed third place with a 7:10.02 finish. The men's 800 free relay A team placed third with a time of 6:39.51.

The Tigers will resume competition tomorrow morning, as prelims begin at 10:00 am and finals resume at 6:00 pm Thursday.
