
Missouri Completes Successful Day Two of Mizzou Invite

Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Swimming kept with the previous days momentum on day two of the Mizzou Invitational. At the end of the day, the Tigers were in first place with 758 points, which contributed to the team score of 1,715 points.
In the first event of the night, the 200 yard medley relay finals, Missouri swept the top two spots. The relay team of Cassie Cunningham, Courtney Rhodenbaugh, Shara Stafford, and Lisa Nathanson placed first in 1:39.01 and met the NCAA qualifying B standard in the process. In the second place spot was the relay team of Brigette Selbert, Emy DiBenigno, Lexi Spivak, and Sydney Schaefer with a time of 1:41.49 which also met the NCAA Qualifying B Standard.
The Tigers saw success in the 200 yard freestyle finals with two swimmers placing in the top three. Stafford took the first place spot in 1:44.79 and Stephanie Rovig placed third in 1:47.65. Both swimmers met the NCAA Qualifying B Standard as well. Swimmers with the time of 1:46.19 or faster were asked to participate in the 2010-2011 NCAA Championship.
The Tigers placed in the top three of the 100 yard breaststroke as well. DiBenigno took second in 1:01.71 and Amanda Masters was third 1:01.72. Times from both DiBenigno and Masters met the NCAA B Standard.
Missouri Women captured the top two spots in the 100 yard backstroke with Bouchard coming in first with a time of 52.76, just shy of the NCAA qualifying A standard but meeting the B standard, while Cunningham placed second in 53.16 and also me the NCAA Qualifying B Standard. Swimmers with the time of 53.20 or faster were invited to participate in the 2010-2011 NCAA Championship.
In the 800 yard freestyle relay the Mizzou relay team of Stafford, Rovig, Ashley Paterson, and Bouchard shaved over ten seconds off of their preliminary time to take first place in 7:12.62. Their time meets the NCAA Qualifying B Standard as well.
In the 1 mtr diving event the Tigers took the top two spots, providing more points for the women's team. Sharon Finn took first place with 287.05 points and Jordan Morcom came in a close second with 284.50 points. Preliminary events begin at 10 AM Saturday morning.
