KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Former Mizzou baseball standout Aaron Crow has been selected to participate in this year's Major League Baseball All-Star Game; he will be representing the Kansas City Royals on the American League team. Crow's selection to the team marks the second-straight season in which a Tiger has been selected to the All-Star teams after Ian Kinsler, who is playing with the Texas Rangers, earned a nod last season.
Crow has been one of the top relievers in the AL all season long as he has posted a 1.96 earned run average through 34 appearances. He also has 41 strikeouts in 41.1 innings pitched this season, averaging 8.93 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. Crow's 1.96 ERA this season ranks him third among America League pitchers with at least 40.0 innings pitched this season. Only Seattle's David Pauley (1.38) and Anaheim's Jared Weaver (1.92) have a better clip than Crow this season. Crow was one of 13 AL pitchers selected to the team and one of five relievers.
The MLB All-Star Game will be held on July 12 at Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The AL team will be led by manager Ron Washington of the Texas Rangers. For all the latest on Mizzou baseball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and be sure to follow the team on twitter @MUTigerBaseball.
