The Missouri women's golf team opened its Fall 2010 schedule by carding a 313 in the first round of the Chip-N Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., placing the Tigers in 10th place. Round two has begun, but the field was unable to finish due to inclement weather.
Three weather delays slowed play on Monday, with the third resulting in a suspension of play. The golfers were called off the course at 5:35 p.m.
Mizzou freshman Taylor Gohn led the Tigers in the opening round of play, as she carded a 76 in her first round as a collegiate golfer. Gohn was in a tie for 19th place after round one. Senior Nicola Race shot a 77 to stand tied for 26th spot.
Like Gohn junior Kelly Osborne and freshman Ariana Savich are taking part in their first tournament with the Tigers this week in Nebraska. Osborne, who transferred to Mizzou before last season, turned in an opening round 78, while Savich carded an 82.
Junior Marissa Cook shot an 83 in Monday's first round.
Mizzou's team total of 313 was one shot ahead of a trio of teams tied for 11th place, including host-school Nebraska. The Tigers began the second round four shots behind ninth-place Akron.
Texas-San Antonio's first round total of 294 put it at the top of the team standings.
Play is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning, with the completion of the second round. Live State are available at golfstat.com.
