Missouri Falls At No. 2 Baylor

Waco, Texas - The University of Missouri women's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 2 Baylor. The Bears took the doubles point, winning two of three matches, and swept the singles matches for the win.
In doubles action, Missouri senior Kristen Bleakley and freshman Andrew Lewis kicked the day off right, taking an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles over Baylor's Taylor Ormond and Hannah Brandt. Katilyn Ritchie and Mallory Weber were next off the court, defeated 8-1 by Nina Secerbegovic and Lenka Broosova. Baylor's Carla Lindlar and Csilla Borsanyi took an early 3-1 lead at No. 2 doubles. Senior Sofia Ayala and sophomore Jamie Mera battled back pulling the score to 4-3, before falling, 8-5.
Playing at the No. 1 spot, Ritchie fell to #5 Broosova, 6-2, 6-0. #106 Borsanyi took a 6-3, 6-1 win over Maria Christensen at No. 4 singles. #55 Ormond clinched the match for the Bears with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Mera at the No. 3 spot. Weber and Lewis were the next two off the court, when Secerbegovic defeated Weber, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, and Jelena Stanivuk defeated Lewis 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5. Bleakley brought the match to a close, being defeated 7-6 (4), 6-2 by Baylor's Lindlar.
The Tigers return to action at Texas Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.
