COLUMBIA, Mo. - In the last day of competition for the Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams at the Missouri Grand Prix, the Tigers had their best overall day as three swimmers earned medals Sunday evening.
Highlighted by the duo of Lauren Lavigna and Dominique Bouchard in the 200 back and Kim Jasmer in the 100 free, Missouri finished the day with one gold and two silver medals, giving the Tigers four overall on the weekend. Lisa Nathanson earned a bronze medal on Saturday night.
Lavigna and Bouchard had the second and third times in the preliminaries of the 200 back, giving them the inside two lanes for the finals. They used those lanes to their advantage, with Lavigna finishing first in 2:14.11 and Bouchard finishing second in 2:15.55.
Jasmer blasted out of the gate in the 100 free prelims, earning the top overall time in the event heading into the finals. After such a strong swim early, Jasmer ended the day for the Tigers with a silver medal finish in the event, clocking in at 56.58 seconds.
Jan Konarzewski was the only men's swimmer to swim in any of the finals Sunday night, participating in the men's 200 back and finishing fifth overall, touching the pad in 2:05.10.
The Tiger swimmers will use the next week to prepare for the 2010 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships in College Station, Texas, Feb. 24-27.
