Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Mizzou Tiger football team hit the practice field for the first time in Arizona Friday morning, as they held a two-hour session in picturesque 70-degree, sunny weather. The practice was held at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, just minutes away from the team hotel, and it represented the final full pad practice of the season for Gary Pinkel's squad.
Several former Tigers were on hand to view the morning practice, including Brian Cracraft, who lettered as a defensive lineman from 1994-97, and Al Sterling, who lettered at linebacker for former MU Coach Larry Smith from 1996-98. Also visiting for the day was former assistant coach Corby Smith, son of the late former Tiger Head Coach.
Also on hand for practice was former Tiger assistant head coach and offensive coordinator, Dave Christensen, who finished up his second season as head coach at the University of Wyoming.
Following the practice, the team had a few hours of free time to enjoy the beautiful weather in the Phoenix area. The rest of the schedule for the day includes a team dinner at Fort McDowell, where they will have a barbecue dinner and autograph session, along with some Christmas caroling. After that, the team will have some more free time, prior to bedcheck.
The Tigers will hit the practice field for a Christmas morning practice, and they'll hold their final full practice of the 2010 season Sunday morning, as well.
