Three Tigers Named 1st-Team All-Big 12 by Coaches

Nov. 30, 2010

Dallas, Texas – Three University of Missouri football standouts were named first-team All-Big 12 today by league coaches, as announced by the Big 12 office.  Senior C Tim Barnes (Longwood, Mo.), junior TE Michael Egnew (Plainview, Texas) and sophomore DE Aldon Smith (Raytown, Mo.) all earned first-team designation.

Barnes earned 1st-team honors for the first time in his stellar career, thanks to his efforts anchoring an offense that has helped guide the Tigers to a 10-2 record and a share of the Big 12 North Division title in 2010.  Egnew, a finalist for the 2010 Mackey Award, won the tight end spot after an outstanding season which saw him lead all of the nation's tight ends with 83 receptions for 698 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Smith, the 2009 Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year, won 1st-Team honors for the first time despite missing three games early in the year due to a broken leg.

A pair of underclassmen – sophomore WR T.J. Moe (O'Fallon, Mo.) and junior DE Jacquies Smith (Dallas, Texas) – both earned second-team All-Big 12 honors, while 11 other Tigers (OL Elvis Fisher, QB Blaine Gabbert, LB Andrew Gachkar, LB Zaviar Gooden, S Jarrell Harrison, OL Dan Hoch, DE Brad Madison, PK Grant Ressel, DL Terrell Resonno, CB Kevin Rutland and OL Austin Wuebbels) won honorable-mention all-league acclaim.
