
Mizzou Men Take Third in Southwest Plunge

Columbia, Mo. - The men's swimming and diving team closed out the weekend with a third place finish in the second annual Southwest Plunge, finishing ahead of SMU and TCU and behind Texas and Texas A&M with 825.5 points.
On Friday evening, the 400 medley team of Roko Simunic, Michael Lopresti, Anders Melin and Jordan Hawley placed third for Missouri with a time of 3:23.00. Yaniv Shnaider also had a strong showing in the 200 IM, finishing second with a time of 1:53.62.
In the diving pool, Dante Jones placed third in the 1 meter with a final score of 342.85. David Bonuchi placed fourth with 330.75 points.
John Higgins placed first in the B final of the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.47.
Saturday's events produced even more success for the Tigers. In the 100 butterfly, Anders Melin nabbed a second place finish with a time of 51.30.
John Higgins clocked his next top three finish of the meet with a time of 1:51.72 in the 200 back, placing third. Joe Hladick then placed first in the B final of the 100 breast, finishing in 1:00.18.
The Tigers will next face South Carolina in Fayetteville, Ark. on Nov. 5.
