McGuire Set to Receive Faculty-Alumni Award

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Tiger track and field head coach and current coordinator of sports psychology services at Mizzou Rick McGuire will receive one of the annual Missouri Alumni Association Faculty-Alumni Awards at Friday's ceremony at the Reynolds Alumni Center. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. and it is an invite-only function. McGuire is being honored with one of five Faculty Awards.

Faculty-Alumni Awards, which were started in 1968 by the Mizzou Alumni Association, recognize the achievements of faculty and alumni. Assistant, associate and full professors are considered for their work as teachers, researchers and administrators. Alumni are considered for both their accomplishments in professional life and service to their alma mater.

McGurie coached the Mizzou track and field team for 27 seasons before moving to his new position as coordinator of sports psychology at Mizzou on Oct. 1. He is a highly-renowned coach, educator and speaker and is one of the most respected figures in collegiate track and field.
