LOUSIVILLE, Ky. - The Mizzou cross country team turned in a fine performance at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday (Oct. 2) at EP Tom Sawyer Park. The women's team, on the heels of a 10th-place finish from sophomore Bailey Belvis, finished sixth overall out of 35 teams at the meet. Belvis turned in a 5K time of 17:23.45 to place 10th overall. The Tiger men finished 17th overall out of 38 teams while Max Storms led the way with a time of 24:43.00.
Aside from Belvis, the Mizzou women's team saw plenty of its runners place highly at the meet as three runners finished in the top 20. Senior Kinsey Farren placed just behind Belvis in 16th overall with a time of 17:31.13 while Laura Roxberg was just behind her in 20th with a time of 17:38.00. That trio was a big reason why the Tigers were able to finish sixth with 243 points, despite holding out its top runner, Kaitie Vanatta.
Aimee Bonte, Marie O'Leary, Eden Slater, Maggie Priebe and Jessica Armstrong all finished in the top half of the field as well. Bonte placed 110th with a time of 18:35.89 while O'Leary finished 114th with a time of 18:36.94. Slater and Preibe also ran within four spots of each other, finishing 120th and 124th, respectively. Armstrong placed 145th with a time of 18:53.25 as well.
Storms led the Tiger men with a 50th place finish after clocking an 8K time of 24:43.00 while Kevin McKee finished just behind him with a time of 24:48.46 to place 67th. Hayden Legg placed 115th with a time of 25:18.83 while freshman Merid Seleshi finished in 124th with a time of 25:22.91. Aaron Dixon also turned in a top-half finish as he placed 161st with a time of 25:38.95.
