Facing some of the stiffest tests in competition so far last weekend, the Missouri women's swimming and diving team returns home for the last home meet of the year to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers at the Mizzou Aquatics Center. The meet will also hold senior day activities as Molly Bollen, Colleen Gordon and Kim Jasmer compete against collegiate competiton for the last time, but all three could participate in the Mizzou Grand Prix next weekend. This will be the fifth, and final, Big 12 opponent the Tigers will face until the conference championships later this month and are 2-2 with wins over Iowa State and Kansas, with the losses coming against No. 3 Texas and No 6 Texas A&M.
Last Time Out
The Tigers are coming off a clean sweep of Notre Dame, Iowa and Denver in the Shamrock Invitational last week, led by Colleen Gordon's four individual titles over the three-session weekend. Gordon has won nine straight events dating back to the Arkansas dual, netting her the swimmer of the week award by the conference last week. The team had seven first place finishes in the event, scooping up the bulk of the points in the top five spots to wrap up the sweep of the invitational.
The Meet
Nebraska comes into the meet on a high note, defeating Iowa State 177-123 last weekend on their Senior Day, and sit at 4-2 on the year in dual meets. The Huskers have only faced Kansas and Iowa State this year in duals, with Kansas getting the better of them in Lawrence. Nebraska won ten of 16 events on the day against the Cyclones, and look to be a scrappy team all across the board. Where they might look to catch the Tigers sleeping is in the 100 and 200 breast races, led by Kaitlin Arntz and Kelsey Larson.
The Senior Day activities will begin at around 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning, with the first race of the dual scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. CST. Live stats of the event can be found at http://www.mutigers.com/livestats/c-swim/realtime/
