COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri and Fox Sports Net have agreed to partner for the second straight year to televise select Mizzou Football games live on a pay-per-view basis to Tiger fans. The agreement includes the airing of home games against Bowling Green (Sept. 12) and Furman (Sept. 19), and both games will be available on participating cable systems in the region and nationwide to satellite and telco customers.
Kickoff times for both contests have now been established, with the Bowling Green contest set for 6 p.m., while the Furman game will kick at 1 p.m.
Neither game was selected for telecast as part of the Big 12 Conference television package, which meant that prior to this agreement, the only way for Tiger fans to see the game would have been in person.
"We're very pleased to be able to offer these games to our fans, who otherwise wouldn't have been able to see them unless they were here in Columbia," said Associate Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt. "Jack Donovan and his team at FSN are great partners, and we feel like they're providing a win-win situation for everyone involved, including our fans who can't be with us in person," he said.
"We're proud to partner with Missouri to make these games, which otherwise would not be televised, available to fans," said FOX Sports Midwest/Kansas City General Manager and Senior Vice President Jack Donovan.
In 2008, Mizzou and FSN partnered to televise the Tigers' home opener against Southeast Missouri State, as well as a second home game against Nevada. The latter game was eventually moved to FSN's weekly Big 12 package, as severe weather changed the broadcast schedule elsewhere that weekend.
With this announcement, each of Mizzou's first five games of the 2009 season will now be televised - marking a program first. The season starts on ESPN against Illinois (Sept. 5), followed by the pair of PPV telecasts. After that, Mizzou travels to Nevada to play on ESPN (Sept. 25) and then is home on ESPN against Nebraska (Oct. 8).
FSN's pay-per-view division will produce and distribute the telecasts. Additional information about pricing and how to purchase the telecasts, including a list of participating cable systems and satellite providers, will be announced leading up to the games. Details will be posted on mutigers.com and foxsports.com/midwest as they become available.
Participating cable and satellite providers will offer the telecasts to their customers on a specially designated pay-per-view channel. It is expected that Charter, Time Warner, Mediacom, Suddenlink and many more cable providers, along with DirecTV, Dish Network and AT&T U-Verse, will offer the games. Fans are encouraged to order prior to game day, since some cable systems may be busy taking last-minute orders on the day of the game. The telecasts will not pre-empt FSN's regularly scheduled programming.
Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to mutigers.com for continuous updates on television selections throughout the season.
