COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Mizzou track and field program will host its first intrasquad meet of the season on Wednesday (Dec. 9) inside the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse. The event will open with the field events at 2:30 p.m. while the track events start at 3 p.m. The meet will simulate a real competition for the Tigers as they prepare for the upcoming 2010 season, which officially starts Jan. 8 with the Missouri Invitational.
Mizzou returns a handful of All-Americans and Big 12 Champions to this year's roster, including combined event All-Americans Nick Adcock (Kansas City, Mo.) and Lars Rise (Trondheim, Norway) and the defending Big 12 800m champion, Shannon Leinert (Eureka, Mo.). The track and field program is coming off of a season in which it added eight All-America honors to its record books along with 23 NCAA Mideast Regional qualifiers and five Big 12 Championships.
The future also looks bright at Mizzou as it brought in one of its best recruiting classes in program history last season. Fans can get their first look at these soon-to-be Tiger standouts on Wednesday. For all the latest on Mizzou track and field, stay tuned to www.MUTigers.com.
