COLUMBIA, Mo. -

After dominating performances against Southern Illinois-Carbondale two weeks ago, the Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool this weekend for the Missouri Invite. The meet will host eight teams from six different conferences and Division II over the three-day event, as this is the last time they will compete until after the new year. Teams participating in this year's event include Missouri S&T, Boise State, Colorado State, Drury, SIU, Arizona State, Nebraska and North Dakota.

Last Time Out

The Missouri men and six winners in eight different events in the dual against Southern Illininois, along with having two multiple winners in swimmer Jordan Hawley who won the men's 1000 and 100-free, and diver Greg DeStephen who dominated the men's 1 and 3-meter diving titles. DeStephen's convincing performances over the field in the event earned him his first Big 12 Men's Diver of the Week award -- the first accolade for any swimmer in 2009-10

Much was the same for the Tiger women's swimming and diving team, as the squad defeated the Salukis 153-80 for back-to-back dual victories after defeating Kansas as well. The team was so dominant against SIU that in nine events, the Tigers had anywhere from taking the top two spots, to having Mizzou swimmers in the top four spots in a single event. Diver Jordan Morcom also swept the diving portion of the meet winning both 1 and 3-meter diving titles on the day.

The Meet

This meet will be the measuring stick to see where the Missouri squads stacks up against quality competition in the state, conference and national level. Missouri S&T comes into the meet as the sixth ranked men's team in Division II, while Missouri and Arizona State are neck-and-neck with each other as each team received votes in the CSCAA polls. Broken up over three days, the preliminary events will begin at 10 a.m each day and run until completed, with the finals beginning at 6 p.m. later that day.
