Columbia, Mo. - Laurence Bowers and Marcus Denmon each scored 13 points and the Mizzou defense forced 30 turnovers in an 83-60 victory over Northwest Missouri State Friday evening at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers led 45-32 at half and pushed their lead to as many as 31 in the final 20 minutes, but an incredible 53 combined fouls kept the game from having any flow.
Missouri struggled to find its shooting stroke in 23-point win. The Tigers shot just 38 percent from the floor and 23.5 percent from three-point range, but used a couple of key runs throughout the contest to seize control.
Edriss Floyd (12 points) and Girod Adams (11 points) led Northwest Missouri State in scoring. The Bearcats also tied the Tigers on the glass 43-43, but Missouri owned a 16-7 lead on offensive caroms.
Missouri returns to action on Tuesday in the regular-season opener against Tennessee-Martin. Game time from Mizzou Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
