Big 12 Softball Honors Announced

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Big 12 announced its annual award winners following the first two games of the 14th annual league Championships at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. Four members of Missouri's 14th-ranked squad were awarded first team All-Big 12 honors, while two were recognized to the second team. Missouri's six All-Big 12 members ties for the second most in program history and marks the third time in five years that the Tigers had six individuals named to the team. Oklahoma received the most all-conference selections, with eight.

Senior third baseman Lindsey Ubrun (Riverside, Calf.), pitcher Stacy Delaney (Freeland, Mich.), first baseman Marla Schweisberger (Raytown, Mo.) and outfielder Rhea Taylor (Buford, Ga.), were awarded first team honors, with Ubrun, Schweisberger and Taylor selected unanimously by the Big 12 Coaches. The second career first team accolade for Ubrun, Delaney and Taylor, it is the first of sophomore Schweisberger's career.

Ubrun leads her teammates with a .377 batting average in Big 12 games and leads the league with 10 home runs (14 on the year), 26 RBI and 52 total bases.

Sophomore Megan Christopher (Wright City, Mo.), Missouri's starting catcher, and freshman pitcher Kristin Nottelmann (Fenton, Mo.) were selected to the second team. The honor is the first of either player's career.

The most All-Big 12 selections a Missouri softball team has ever received is seven set in 1996. Since then, the Tigers have had six All-Conference award winners on six occasions.

Averaging .324 on the season and .274 in Big 12 games, Missouri enters the league Championships as the No. 2 seed and will take on seventh-seeded Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. (CT), Saturday, May 9, on the main field of ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
