Missouri Basketball has earned the #3 seed for the 2009 Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championship and will face the winner of #6 Texas A&M vs. #11 Texas Tech on Thursday (March 12) at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
Missouri earned its first opening-round bye at the Big 12 Championship since the 1998-99 season, when Norm Stewart's Tigers earned the #2 seed with an 11-5 conference mark. Missouri finished the 2008-09 Big 12 campaign with a 12-4 overall record, the school's best-ever league record since joining the Big 12.
A&M and Tech will meet on Wednesday (March 11) at 8:30 p.m. and Missouri split the season series with the two programs this year. The Tigers defeated Tech 97-86 on Jan. 24 at Mizzou Arena, before falling at A&M on Saturday 96-86.
