
Mizzou Falls to Iowa State, 64-46

AMES, Iowa - The University of Missouri women's basketball team fell to the Iowa State Cyclones 64-46 Saturday night at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa. Junior Alyssa Hollins paced the Tigers with 14 points.
With the loss, Mizzou falls to 8-15 overall and 1-9 in the Big 12 Conference while Iowa State Improves to 15-7 and 4-5.
Mizzou tied the game early when sophomore Marissa Scott nailed a three to knot the score at 8-8 with 14:20 remaining in the first frame. After a free throw from Iowa State, sophomore Amanda Hanneman gave the Tigers its first lead of the game, 11-9, on another 3-pointer at the 13:21 mark.
The Cyclones responded with a 12-0 run over the next 5:56 to build a 10-point lead, 21-11. Mizzou chipped away at its deficit and a 3-pointer from junior Alyssa Hollins with 52 seconds left brought the Tigers within three, 27-24, but the Cyclones' Alison Lacey made a driving layup as time expired to send Iowa State ahead 29-23 going into the halftime.
Hanneman stole an Iowa State inbounds pass and fed Hollins for a layup to end an 11-0 run by the Cyclones to start the second half and put the score at 39-25 with 14:42 left in the contest.
Down 17, 44-27, at the 12:50 mark, the Tigers scored the next nine points on baskets from Hollins, sophomore Jessra Johnson, freshman RaeShara Brown and junior K-Kay Pickens to cut the Iowa State lead to just eight, 44-36, with 10:37 left.
The Cyclones used a 10-0 run late in the second half to give Iowa State a 19-point advantage, 62-43, and put the game out of reach for the Tigers with 2:06 remaining in the game
The Tigers will "Think Pink" on Sunday, Feb. 17 when it hosts Kansas State at Mizzou Arena in a 2:30 p.m. contest. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive free pink t-shirts while all other fans are encouraged to wear pink. All proceeds from the game go toward the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
