Hey there Tiger fans. Since my last blog, it has been nothing but practice and an open tournament for some of the young guys. I am happy to report that Pat Wright, one of my workout partners, won the UNI Open yesterday and Nick Gregoris also placed at 157. They actually met up in the semifinals and Pat was the victor by decision. This goes to show all of you how lucky I am to have such a competitive room and workout partners behind me to push me to the limit each day.
Along with Pat and Nick, we also had four other Tigers come away with medals; Brent Haynes took second, Nick Hucke took third, Brandon Wiest took fourth and Cody Farinella took fourth. I was unable to go and watch the tournament because we had a weekend full of practices and lifting, but judging by the report that I got, we wrestled pretty well.
Today is currently our off day, so I'll probably just go in and get a cardio session in later at the Hearnes and catch up on my school work. This week is pretty crammed as far as school is concerned. I have two papers and a large Real Estate project due Wednesday, two homework assignments and an online quiz due tomorrow, and an Accounting test Wednesday night. Luckily, as soon as I get all of this done, all I have is my one final (statistics 1300) next Tuesday. This morning it all hit me when I looked at my planner and I didn't realize how much work I had to do!! I hate it when that happens. It's days like today when we sometimes wonder what it would be like to not be competing in a collegiate sport; having to only go to class and have the rest of the day to work on school work. But this is the life that I chose, and I am thankful for it every day. In the end, stressing over school work is a waste of time. Every time I think I don't have enough time to get work done, or I think I did bad on an assignment or test, it always turns out better than I thought it was going to be. For example, I took a statistics test last Tuesday, the day after we got back from New York, and I literally thought I BOMBED it...I felt the worst I have ever felt after a test in my whole life: I mean we are talking dumbfounded!! I ended up with a C+, and although a C is average, I was happy with it given the circumstances of the situation.
This week we will practice hard for the next two or three days, taper off on Thursday, travel on Friday and kick some behind this weekend. We travel to San Louis Obispo, California to dual Cal State-Bakersfield, Cal State-Fullerton, and Cal Poly. I will have the #12 ranked guy in Chase Pami from Cal Poly. He is also the guy I beat in the Missouri Open finals. I look forward to blogging with you next Monday. Have a great week.
PS....check out our video that Me, Marcus Hoehn, Mark Ellis, and Max Askren made while we were in New York and stranded in a hotel for a whole day and a half after the tournament.
