
Oklahoma State Storms Past Mizzou, 76-41

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State Cowgirls used a 54-28 rebounding advantage to storm past the University of Missouri women's basketball team 76-41 at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday night in Stillwater, Okla. The Tigers fall to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 play while the Cowgirls improve to 15-1 and 3-0 in league action.
Sophomore Jessra Johnson led Mizzou with 13 points while sophomore Amanda Hanneman had 10. Junior Alyssa Hollins pulled down a career high seven rebounds.
Strong 3-point shooting for the Tigers kept the tight in the first minutes of the contest as a 3-pointer from Johnson at the 15:54 mark tied to game at 6-6. Down four one minute later, Hollins got the Tigers within one, 10-9, on another three. Overall, Mizzou's first 15 points came on threes.
The one-point deficit was the closest Mizzou would get for the rest of the half as Oklahoma State went on a 12-3 run, including six from Danielle Green, over the next 4:50 to put the score at 22-12. The Cowgirls stayed in control with strong post play and finished the half on a 18-9 run to enter the locker room up 40-22.
Oklahoma State continued to build its lead in the second on five straight points from Taylor Hardeman for a 45-21 Cowgirl advantage with 16:50 on the clock. The Cowgirls' strong play continued throughout the second half as the team outscored Mizzou 36-20 in the frame.
The Cowgirls had four players in double-figures, led by Andrea Riley's 19.
Overall, Oklahoma State used 23 offensive rebounds to build its 54-28 margin.
Mizzou returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 19 against Border Showdown foe Kansas at 2 p.m. in Lawrence, Kan., before hosting No. 6 Baylor next Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. The game with the Bears will be broadcast on the Mizzou Sports Network.
