COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri soccer Volunteer Assistant Coach Candace Chapman scored Canada's first-ever Olympic goal in the country's 2-1 victory over Argentina on Wednesday at the Tianjin Olympic Sports Center Stadium.
Chapman got Canada, which is playing in its first Olympics, on the board in the 27th minute when her 30-yard blast went into the lower-right corner of the net. The Canadians added the game-winner in the 72nd minute.
The goal was the fifth for Chapman, a defender, with the Senior National Team. She also had the honor of scoring the first goal for Canada in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Canada next plays host China on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 19:45 (6:45 a.m. CT) in Group E action.
