Tiger Softball Player Earns Academic All-District Honors

Columbia, Mo.-Senior Amanda Renth (Mascoutah, Ill.), Missouri softball's starting first baseman, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Seven University Division Team as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This is Renth's first Academic All-District honor and marks the 17th in Missouri softball history.

A biomedical engineer major, the two-time All-Big 12 recipient carries a 3.62 grade-point average. Renth currently stands fifth in the nation with her 19 home runs, setting the new Missouri single season home run record May 4 at Nebraska. In addition, Renth leads the league with her home runs, slugging percentage and total bases.

Renth and the Tigers will take on Texas Tech Saturday, May 10, at 11:30 a.m. (CT) in the fourth game of the 13th annual Big 12 Softball Championships. Missouri will play on the alternate field of ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
