Robe Named to League's Spring Good Works Team

May 5, 2008

COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri senior Elizabeth Robe (Waukesha, Wis.) was honored by the Big 12 Conference on Thursday with recognition as member of the league's Spring Good Works Team. The award is given to a selected student-athlete from each of the Big 12's member institutions based on significant community service, scholarship, and competitive excellence. Robe has been a part of several community service projects during her time as a Tiger and never hesitates to lend a helping hand.

As a member of Mizzou's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Robe has helped organize and participate in many of the group's efforts including the athletic department's Hurricane Katrina Collection Fund and yearly food drives offered during Tiger Scholarship Fund events. In addition, Robe has participated in the Starlight Reading Program and the Granny's House event with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Robe also serves as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia.

Robe became a nine-time Big 12 scorer during the indoor season with all-conference performances in the shot put and weight throw events. In addition, for the fourth-straight year, Robe has earned a spot in the NCAA Mideast Regional with a shot-put qualifier and will go for the second year in-a-row for the hammer throw as well. In 2006, Robe earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships to throw the shot after marking a then-PR of 50 feet, 7 inches (15.42m) in placing seventh at the regional meet in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Tigers next are scheduled to travel to the Big 12 Championships in Boulder, Colo.,
