Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's soccer team will face the Minnesota Golden Gophers Saturday (April 12) at 1 p.m. at the Kansas City Wizards Swope Park Training Center in south Kansas City, Mo.
Last Weekend
The Tigers split their first two spring matches last weekend. Saturday (April 5) Illinois came to town and beat Mizzou, 3-1, and Sunday (April 6) the Tigers beat Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 3-0. Mizzou sophomore Michelle Collins (Naperville, Ill.) scored the first goal in Saturday's game against Illinois, but the Illini answered with three straight to take the win. Sunday, the Tigers did not score until the 84th minute, when sophomore Kristin Andrighetto (Pleasant Hil, Calif.) scored off a free kick. Freshman Krista Kruse (Fort Collins, Colo.) and junior transfer Taylor Hay (Missouri Baptist/Worden, Ill.) added a goal apiece to lead the Tigers to a 3-0 win.
Minnesota's Spring
The Gophers are 2-1-1 in their first four spring games. On March 30, Minnesota defeated Nebraska and Kansas, winning both games by 1-0 scores. Katie Bethke, who was tied for second on the team last season in goals scored, with five, scored the game-winner against Nebraska. Earlier this spring the Gophers fell to defending national champion USC, 1-0, and tied San Diego, 0-0, and then winning the shootout, 3-2.
The U finished the 2007 season with a 9-8-2 record, and they lose no starters from last year's squad. The Tigers won the only meeting between the schools, 1-0, in 2006, in St. Paul, Minn.

The Swope Park Training Center is located inside Kansas City's largest park on the south side of Kansas City, Mo. The park includes the Kansas City Zoo, the Sprint IMAX Theatre and the Starlight Theatre. At 1,769 acres, Swope Park is Kansas City's largest, and the second-largest city park in the country.

Alumni Weekend and Mizzou vs. Loyola
After the game in Kansas City, the Tigers will come back to Columbia to host the Loyola (Ill.) Ramblers. The game, part of the Alumni Weekend celebration, is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.
