Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri Director of Athletics Mike Alden announced the promotion of a pair of MU graduates on Tuesday, as he promoted Director of Football Operations Barry Odom and Director of Media Relations Chad Moller to Assistant Athletics Directors.
"I'm pleased to recognize these two University of Missouri graduates for their hard work and devotion to our department," Director of Athletics Mike Alden said. "Barry and Chad both started in our department at the intern/graduate assistant levels and have steadily risen up the ranks, now, to the level of assistant athletics directors. It's always been important for us to develop our internal staff and it's certainly a credit to the University of Missouri when we are able to develop and promote two of our own."
Odom begins his fifth year as a full-time member of the Missouri Department of Athletics following a standout career as a Tiger linebacker from 1996-99. Entering his second year as Director of Football Operations, the Maysville, Okla., native concluded his playing career fifth on the school's all-time tackles list with 362 stops and was a key figure in back-to-back bowl appearances in 1997 and 1998. A two-time Missouri graduate with a B.S. in the College of Agriculture and an M.S. in the College of Education, Odom started his career as a development intern in the Tiger Scholarship Fund, before returning to his home state of Oklahoma to serve as an assistant football coach at Ada High School. Odom later returned to Columbia to serve as head coach at Rock Bridge High School and was named Missouri's Director of Football Recruiting in 2002.
A 1991 graduate of Missouri's award-winning Journalism School, Moller began his media relations career as a graduate assistant in the Mizzou office in 1992-93, before earning his first full-time position at Baylor in 1994-95. A 16-year veteran of the field, Moller spent two seasons in Waco, Texas, before returning to Columbia in a full-time capacity in 1996-97. Named Director of Media Relations in August of 2000, Moller was cited by the All-American Football Foundation for its Outstanding SID Award in 2004 and his 2003 Mizzou Football Media Guide was named Best in the Nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Moller also earned a Best in the Nation award for his 1992 Mizzou Wrestling Media Guide by Amateur Wrestling News. Overall, Moller enters his 14th year in the Missouri Media Relations office, including his eighth as Director.
