To start the countdown to the game and kick off public ticket sales, an Arch Rivalry Fan Fest took place in Kiener Plaza in Downtown St. Louis Thursday afternoon. The Fan Fest was hosted by the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission and the St. Louis Sports Commission - the organizers of the Arch Rivalry - and media partners KMOX and KFNS Radio. The event will feature live music, food, and a noon pep rally with Mizzou and Illinois student-athletes. Fans in attendance can pick up a free Arch Rivalry poster and will have the chance to collect autographs from the players.
Among the student-athletes appearing at the pep rally will be four St. Louis area natives: Will Franklin (Sr., WR, Vashon HS) and Darnell Terrell (Sr., DB, Eureka HS) from Mizzou; and Jerry Brown (Fr., DL, Vashon HS) and Antonio Gully (Fr., DB, Cardinal Ritter HS) from Illinois. Also in attendance will be Mizzou's Tyler Luellen (Sr., OL), Martin Rucker (Sr., TE), Tony Temple (Sr., RB) and Lorenzo Williams (Sr., DL); and Illinois' Chris James (So., WR) and Brit Miller (Jr., LB). The Missouri spirit squad will also perform at the event.
In anticipation of the Arch Rivalry weekend, organizers are planning several fan activities around the game to contribute to the bowl-like atmosphere in Downtown St. Louis. The schedule of events can be found in the official fan guide distributed at the Fan Fest or on the Arch Rivalry's website: www.statefarmarchrivalry.com.
