COLUMBIA, Mo. - The success of Mizzou Athletics throughout the 2006-07 season has spurred the new department theme, `Unleashed'.
From a third place finish by the Tiger Wrestlers at the NCAA Championships, a third bowl appearance in four years for Gary Pinkel's Football team, regular-season championship runs by MU's nationally-ranked Baseball and Softball programs and a rookie record-tying 18 wins by first year head coach Mike Anderson and his Men's Basketball program, Mizzou Athletics certainly came `Unleashed' over the past academic year, sparking new levels of excitement for the upcoming 2007-08 campaign.

`Unleashed' is the third department theme at Missouri since 1999. `It's a Great Time to Be A Tiger' was used from 1999-2002 before `Mizzou on the Move' was implemented in 2002. The new theme will be used as a consistent tie-in for all promotional pieces in the department, as well as in advertising and merchandising efforts.
"We certainly feel like our new tagline reflects the direction of Mizzou Athletics," said Director of Marketing Andrew Grinch. "It will help freshen up our marketing and advertising campaigns throughout the state and help our fans identify with the great deal of success being achieved by our programs across the board."
The development of `Unleashed' was a collaborative effort between members of the Mizzou Department of Athletics, the staff at Woodruff Sweitzer and longtime advertising consultant Jack Smith. Feedback on a final list of Department taglines was elicited from Tiger student-athletes and department personnel. The graphic look of the theme was created by Woodruff Sweitzer of Columbia.
