HEAD COACH Gary Pinkel
Opening Statement
"Overall, I think when you come into a game like this, you look at your defense and your offense, you look at continuity, how they did, and then really it's just mixing and matching teams. You have a lot of players out there, a lot of experience. On offense, we went out there and scored twice, I thought that was good. And then there was a bunch of our guys getting experience playing and there were no injuries or very few. It was a good spring and now we will get ready for August and when the players get back, we will get going."
On Defensive Depth:
"I thought we did a lot of good things, we have a lot of team speed. I think our depth on defense is young, but it is very talented. I expect us to be much better, depth-wise, in two-a-days because all those young guys will just come back and do it over again. We all know that we have to get good fast this year too. My thinking is, we are playing Illinois our first game, and it is no warm-up."
On Predictions of Winning Big 12 North:
"I think we have the potential to be a very good football team. I think it is wise for us in our final team meeting a week from tomorrow, to talk about expectations and also talk about the process. It would be wise for us to focus on trying to get better each and every day. You can talk about winning the Big 12 championship all you want, but with all those things, you just have to go do it. We don't need to talk, we just need to work hard and I think we have the kind of leadership that that's what they'll do."
QUARTERBACK Chase Daniel
On the Tigers' Offense...
"I think the key focus on offense is to be consistent. I think we were consistent for most of the time today, at the culmination [of the spring]."
On having a plethora of offense options...
"It's a good problem to have, but when you have all of the receivers come up to you, saying, `throw me the ball,' it's hard because you can't. At the same time, it's a good thing to have."
On the completion of spring ball...
"Getting out of here healthy is the main thing. Now we're going to take a month off, relax and get our mind right and get mentally correct and come back strong for the summer."
TAILBACK Tony Temple
On the running game...
"I think we were effective as far as the running game, but with our offense, we have to share the ball and that's hard to do. You got a little taste of what we could do, we've got so much stuff that we haven't even put in. When we're on, we're pretty good, but our biggest thing is being consistent. We've just got to execute."
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN Lorenzo Williams
On the progress of the defense...
"It's hard to explain because a lot guys come in and out, I only played 15 plays, and most of the starters didn't play that much, so the score might be a bit lopsided. We've still got a long ways to go even if we would have beat them [the black squad offense] today. We have a long ways to go as a team. We just have to work hard through summer and work through two-a-days and get ready to turn it on when Illinois comes around."
TIGHT END Chase Coffman
On the lofty predictions of a Big 12 North Crown...
"I'm pretty excited, but I think we could have done it the last couple years. We've just got to go out there and do it on the field now."
